Villa San-Juliette

Hidden out in San Miguel, which is north of Paso Robles, is a little gem of a winery called Villa San Juliette. You may not have cell reception on your way out there, but trust us, it's out there somewhere.

In the hour or so we spent out there (which happened to be our first stop of the day), we sipped our way through their reserve list: a couple whites, a couple reds and even a rosé that proved to be enjoyable on a hot summer morning. Their tasting fee is $10 per person and is waived with a bottle purchase.

For us, there were two standout wines: the 2011 Pedit Verdot and the 2012 Granache. That's not to say the other's weren't good, because they were, they just didn't stand a chance when it came to those two wines. The flavors within each were inspiring and plans are being made as to the occasion of each of those bottles being enjoyed!

The best part of Villa San Juliette is the winery itself. It is absolutely stunning! It would be a breathtaking venue for a wedding (and they do have weddings there) or another special occasion.

Getting here: From Highway 101, take Mission St. exit to 14th Street, continue on River Road for 1/2 mile. Turn left onto Cross Canyons Road, and stay on it for 4.5 miles. Villa San-Juliette will be on the left, 6385 Cross Canyons Rd., San Miguel, CA.
