Halloween Party: Food + Wine

halloween spooktacular wine tasting party insolence + wine

Sorry for the delay in the second part of our Halloween Party series, a series of power outages and misbehaving internet put a damper on getting this uploaded at the beginning of the week as originally planned.

Now that you’ve decided to throw your wine tasting Halloween party, you’re probably wondering what you’re going to serve your guests. We’re going to be sharing recipes with you that pair with the wines that come in the shipment below; you don’t have to buy this particular collection or serve all of these wines in one evening, but we’ve personally chosen to buy this collection to pair with this particular party.

First Things First: We all have those friends who love co-hosting parties. They show up, play host and sometimes help you clean up afterwards. It is these friends that you need to cultivate for a night of haunting fun. Ask each of them to bring a selection of cheese or two; make sure nobody brings the same cheese or you might find one of your wine selections doesn’t have a proper pairing.

With your cheese and wine pairings out of the way, now it’s time to decide if you’re going to serve a sit down dinner or cocktail style festivity. We’ve chosen to host a cocktail style party, allowing our guests to mingle amongst themselves inside as well as out on the patio (weather permitting). You don’t need to serve Halloween-themed snacks, and we’re going to do a 50-50 split on Halloween-related snacks and Autumn favorites.

For decorations, you can let your imagination run wild. Since we have a spacious yard, we’re making several gravestones with our favorite ghouls’ names on them to create a spooky graveyard. For the inside, we’re all about spider webs, pumpkins, fog and running with our graveyard theme for an eerie setting.

Cheese + Wine Pairing Portion

Set out your assorted cheeses with the specific wine they’re meant to be paired with on a wine board or something equally as festive that your cheese won’t stick to. Make sure you let your guests know what cheese they’re eating and which wine to pour for themselves. Chalkboard platters are festive and can easily be constructed using a few items, simply make sure your writing and instructions are legible, even in the worst of lighting conditions.

Spooktacular Cocktail Foods

Each of the recipes we’ve chosen pair with one of the bottles from the case we purchased. You can make notes along side each dish for wine suggestions, however once people have begun drinking, they’re likely to just start pouring themselves a glass of whatever bottle is closer to them.
